The current German-language issue of Qvest is the usual mix of fashion, culture and lifestyle; easy on the eye and easy to take in, even in its more serious moments -albeit with rather arched eyebrows- such as Patrick Krauses informative article on interesting strategies for residential real estate unfolding in Dusseldorf. Mr Krauses insight is given another eye-catching outing in this issue too in the form of an article on Saint-Tropezs immortal place in the history of hedonistic luxury as the birthplace of the international jet set of the post-war era.
But, it is the fashion for which Qvest is best known and this issue does not disappoint. Amongst the most notable of many fashion features are Stefan Gifthalers oddly-named Soviet Swimming that places luxury womens fashion from the likes of Maison Martin Margiela, Miu Miu and Frankie Morello, amongst others, into the brutalist concrete shell of a socialist swimming pool. Its an ethereal exercise in contemporary luxury floating to the surface through a haze of time-aged colours. On the menswear front, Lukas Spitalers very direct shoot takes the Viking looks of model Berthold Rothas and reinvents then as a contemporary dandy in an equally luxurious selection of brands. And, for those who have more than merely a visual interest in fashion, theres a telling interview with Marios Schwab, the expatriate talent who has been making a name for himself ever since basing his operations in London.
This being Qvest, as usual, the issue is also packed full of informative short features, everything from the current trends in cosmetics to reviews of the most interesting books on art, design and architecture or pop music currently on the store shelves.
